The bougainvillea

like so much
of Sylvia Plath’s blood
shall lurk
within your

sentences.

Sometimes the trellis
will couch your clauses
in comfort, yes.

But
often, bless you,

your verbs
your breathless verbs

shall find their ire
in its thorn and fire
