By Mark Joseph Gens
Mark Gens is a multi-media artist whose work includes collage, installation, video, e-literature, and sculpture. Gens also writes critically about art and exhibitions. He received his BFA from Otis College of Art in Los Angeles and his MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He is currently pursuing an MA in Media Studies at The New School. He lives, studies, writes, and works in New York City. Memory, fantasy, pleasure, violence, masculinity, and desire are the primary themes in his work. Although our interpretation of the world around us is dictated by our own necessities, psychology, fears, and desires, Gens ultimately seeks to provoke intersubjectivity and empathy.
